This morning I posted the fourth article for a project entitled COMPOSITIONAL CONVERSATION. This project involves the development of a textile work that is started by one artist and passed from person to person until everyone has had an opportunity to contribute.
This week's artist, Shelley Brenner Baird, has given us an excellent description of her work process with the piece and notes on why she made the decisions that she made. There is also a mini artist profile of Shelley and examples of her work.
When I began to write this project, one of my thoughts would be that contributing and making decisions would become more and more difficult as the piece developed and I can see that is happening. The artists are "allowed" to rearrange, adjust the shape, or even remove pieces, but so far, no one has done any of those things. I can not imagine that can continue very long as there are 9 more artists waiting their turn and it's starting to get crowded and , in my opinion, the tone of the work is becoming conflicted. We'll see. Please drop by and give us your feedback!
