Some panels are fantastic and some are not. If you go to the conference, I would try to do something like the portfolio review -- take advantage of being there. The panels are probably the most informative aspect of the conference if you hit the bes…

The importance of residency programs

Hello from Residency #2: La Napoule Foundation, Mandelieu-La Napoule, France.

The La Napoule Art Foundation is located in the Cote d'Azur region of France. This interdisciplinary residency program offers artists a studio and separate living quarters within the LNAF grounds. The foundation is the legacy of Henry and Marie Clews and includes a fanciful chateau, villa and French ga… Continue

Hello from the KHN Center

Hello clemsonart community -- Greetings from the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska -- the first stop in my Sabbatical Year Residency Art-athon. Please imagine the building above covered with snow and ice. The KHN is great (photos of my studio should appear somewhere) and very supportive of artists, the residents are given living space, studio space and a stipend. There are 5 residents right now… Continue

hey heidi, hope things are going well with the new class... i havent been up to much at tri county at all, works been taking up most of my time, but i got to make a piece for the art history class im in there, and i posted it. it was supposed to be a collage, so i put together some pictures and some self portrait prints in the background and sprayed it down with spraypaint... then added some of my drawings from a few sketchbooks... its not great i dont think, but i was wondering if u could take a look at it and let me know what u think i could do to further it a bit... i like the strong contrast of both color and detail between the background and doodles, but it might be too much... thanks, nick

Hey Heidi!! How is it going in good ole Clemson?! Memphis is great. The weather right now is hot and sticky. I don't like that very much. Well, it took me forever and three days but I finally put a website up!! I'm very excited!

I'd love to go to a residency and meet people like Thu Tran, but I feel like I have to get more work together first. Maybe, that is a backwards idea. Were you able to get a copy of your interview?

I lived in Central for a few years myself. At the Barefoot Apartments behind a very questionable convenient store. My prints are varied these days. I don't follow any themes or seires these days. Eventually connections are made but I jump around a bit. I still reference animal and human human hybrids from time to time. You wouldn't know anything about that would you? I saw some of you drawings online, oh yeah I Googled you and it was Googley good. I have also been working on a few drawings based on art history where I place myself and others into posters of famous works of art. I figure if I can't find my own success I will try to live off those that can. I recently purchased a small etching press so I am makling more prints now, mostly woodcuts. Maybe if I were not so lazy I could post a few online here for the new Clemsonites to poke fun at. Maybe later I got tired just thinking about it...

Howdy Heidi!!! Where art thou these days? I have missed seeing you the past few times I was in Clemson but I suppose you were busy globe trotting and working the residency scene. Send me some foundations assignment ideas as I am running out of fresh ones, design, drawing, etc. By the way you still owe me a drawing...

Where is my drawing Miss Heidi??? It has only been about six years... Everytime I come to Clemson you are off globetrotting to parts unknown. Why don't you send me some good drawing projects I can use in my class this spring? I have been using the same projects for a few years now and I need to mix it up a bit. Peace.
